Theft:
At 6:00 p.m., a student reported items missing from their unlocked vehicle that was parked on North Portsmouth Avenue. Since the possible theft occurred off campus, the report was referred to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), according to Michael McNerney, director of Campus Safety.
Theft:
At 5:53 p.m., an Athletics staff member reported that an individual was said to have entered the Chiles Center and taken a student’s backpack, McNerney says.
The department was made aware of an opportunity to recover the property off campus, so the case was referred to PPB, according to McNerney.
Friday, March 20
Vandalism:
At 10:03 a.m., a student reported a break-in to their vehicle parked in the Shipstad Hall parking lot. This incident is classified as vandalism because there is the possibility of a break-in, but no items were identified as missing, McNerney says.
Theft:
At 4:45 p.m., a student reported their vehicle missing, according to McNerney. He says the department verified that the vehicle was not towed by the Portland Bureau of Transportation before referring the case to PPB.
At 5:20 p.m., the owner found a lock that appeared to have been forcibly removed from the vehicle to gain access. McNerney says the door lock was most likely “punched out” to bypass the locking mechanism.
