At approximately 11:50 a.m. on Oct. 3, a sulfurous smell was reported by students and staff across campus, according to Campus Safety Dispatcher Robert Digrigoli.

The smell is not from a gas leak, though the source remains unknown, according to an email sent to the campus community from Michael McNerney, director of Campus Safety and Emergency Management.

Campus Safety has filed reports of the smell with Northwest Natural Gas and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

Campus Safety also recommends that individuals with increased sensitivity to the smell should limit their exposure until the odor clears, particularly if they experience trouble breathing or other signs of sensitivity.

Anyone experiencing a medical emergency should contact Campus Safety, according to the email.

This is a developing story. Updates will be made as information becomes available.
