Title IX Coordinator and Associate Provost Lauretta Frederking will leave the University of Portland in May, as she has accepted a vice president and academic dean position at Brescia University in London, Ontario, Canada, according to a community wide email sent by Vice President for Student Affairs Fr. John Donato.

In his email, Donato explained that the duties of Title IX coordinator will temporarily be split between Associate Vice President for Human Resources Sandy Chung and Director of Student Activities Jeromy Koffler starting in May when Frederking departs.

“The University will immediately begin a search for a new, full-time deputy Title IX coordinator, which was part of the recommendations of the Ad Hoc Committee on Title IX,” Donato said in his email.

Frederking has been serving the UP community for 16 years as a professor of political science, Title IX coordinator, and associate provost since April 2016. In his email to the campus, Donato said that Frederking is excited about the professional opportunity, and to join her parents in Ontario where she grew up.

“(Frederking) has been a tremendous presence on our campus community, including as the University’s Title IX Coordinator, and will be greatly missed,” Donato wrote.
