The Pilot House is $300,000 closer to being transformed into a pub and central student center, thanks to an anonymous 1980 alum from Indonesia.

According to a Nov. 21 press release, the Pilot House renovation is slated to be finished in time for the 2015-2016 academic year, provided the University can meet its fundraising goal of $2.2 million. With the recent donation, more than half of the money has been raised.

The new Pilot House will include features like a bar and a stage for various types of entertainment to attract off-campus students, alumni and other community members.

“It’s important for any university to have an attractive and inviting gathering space – a place where students, faculty, staff, and alumni can join together as a community,” University President Fr. Mark Poorman said in the press release.

According to the press release, the renovation is part of a four-part process to develop student spaces across campus. The process began with the renovation of Bauccio Commons in 2010 and also includes the new Library and the upcoming Beauchamp Recreation & Wellness Center, which is also set to open in fall 2015.
