Pilot House, Mack's Market and campus closed for remainder of day

The Pilot House and Mack's Market will remain closed to focus all efforts on serving hot dinner at the Bauccio Commons according to an email sent to on-campus residents.

Classes taking place after 5 p.m. are officially cancelled and the University anticipates for classes to meet as scheduled starting Thursday, Jan. 18.

After Portland was met with a night of freezing rain, the University of Portland campus will remain closed until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The announcement came in an email early Wednesday morning from Vice President of Financial Affairs, Eric Barger.

The Bauccio Commons will be open for service starting at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and reopen for dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Pilot House will remain closed until dinner service from 4 to 8 p.m. according to General Manager for Bon Appetit, Matt Talavera.

“Currently we have 4 people on campus who spent the night to make sure we could provide something for students...” Talavera said in an email to The Beacon. “As things start to thaw out and make it safe for folks to travel, we will open more services and things will get smoother.”

The Clark Library will be closed all of Wednesday while the Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center will be open for normal hours until 11 p.m.

Classes beginning at 5 p.m. are anticipated to meet as scheduled, but the University will continue to monitor the situation and confirmation will be sent from the University by 2 p.m
