A water pipe broke on the fourth floor of Shipstad Hall at around 1:45 p.m. Monday and spewed water for nearly twenty minutes, leaving the hallway and two dorm rooms flooded.

David Jacobs, a freshman in room 420, was napping in his room when he heard what he thought was a shower running.

“I realized you usually can't hear the running water from in here,” Jacobs said. “I came out and I saw this massive leak happening in the hallway and I realized my rug was getting sopping wet and it was leaking into my room."

Henry Mitchell, a freshman in room 418, was out to lunch when he got a call from a friend saying that his room was flooding.

“At first I didn't believe it, but yeah everything is a mess,” Mitchell said. “My rug’s ruined. Luckily people unplugged my electronics so they didn't get ruined.”

The Beacon was unable to reach Physical Plant for information about the repairs Monday.
