Have you ever donated to a cause and then wondered what happened to your money?
Every non-profit boasts that they are putting your dollars towards a "good cause," but what does that mean?
My business partner, Kenny King, and I launched Global ADE (Alliance for Developing Education), a not-for-profit business designed to partner with community leaders to build and strengthen education in developing countries. We do this through funding innovative and cost-effective programs.
Last year, we asked you to help us raise meal points for students in Cambodia. Your generous donations have helped us launch our business and impact youth around the world.
After raising $19,000 last spring with the help of your meal points, we have been putting that money towards students in Cambodia and around the world.
This summer we spent $5,000 on two community-based projects. The first was a creative learning classroom, an innovative classroom learning experience for rural students built by PEPY, a locally based non-profit.
The second was a secondary school scholarship program for seven students through the Splitler School in Cambodia. We also funded the installation of electricity and expansion of a learning resource center at a Kenyan high school.
Pretty cool, right?
However, the important thing here is not our accomplishments. It is you. Without your donations we never would have succeeded. We hope you know your meal points really did go to a great cause because as we write they are currently creating a positive difference in people's lives halfway around the world.
Thank you!
