Taylor Bergmann (-- The Beacon)
By Taylor Bergmann
The Moreau Center is University of Portland's center for service and leadership on campus. Student leaders and UP staff members help to organize service learning trips, one time volunteer opportunities, informational forums around social justice issues, and long-term service positions in the local Portland community.
Instead of writing a long piece on why incoming freshmen and students who haven't yet checked out the Moreau Center should get involved in our activities, I decided to create a simple list of the top 10 reasons why you should get involved in the Moreau Center.
10. Help others change the world.
9. Meet new friends.
8. Become part of something bigger than yourself.
7. Travel the world.
6. Experience life from others' point of view.
5. Find your calling.
4. Develop meaningful relationships across national boundaries.
3. Practice your foreign language skills while helping others.
2. Change a person's life.
1. Take the future into your hands and start something that matters.
So if you are interested in any of these, come by St. Mary's Student Center and meet up with any of the awesome staff members at the Moreau Center.
