Students: Do you ever find yourself in class writing short stories, completely unaware of everything going on around you? Do you find yourself constantly doodling while a professor delivers a lecture? Let's be honest, we all do!

But now, instead of letting those small bursts of inspiration disappear amid the heaps of notes and homework, submit it to Writers Magazine! Comprised exclusively of UP student work including single-panel comics, photos, illustrations, poems, short stories, personal essays, and one-act plays. Writers gives you the opportunity to become a published artist or author.

It is a great accomplishment to be a published artist and also an incredible opportunity to share your work with the students and staff at the University of Portland.

Time is running out though. The deadline for all submissions is Feb. 17! The guidelines are as follows. Word count must remain below 2,000 words, images must be black and white and submitted as a .jpeg or .tif of at least 1 MB in size and all scans should be set to at least 300 dpi. The maximum number of entries per participant is three. All submissions need to be e-mailed as an attachment to writersmagazine11@gmail.com no later than Thursday, Feb. 17. Be sure to check out My Announcements on the UP Portal for more information and get those masterpieces submitted!
