The Health and Counseling Center (HCC), in partnership with Safeway, will be offering a flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinic for students, staff and faculty at Clark Library on Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., according to a Sept. 23 email from the HCC.

The clinic will take place in the second floor conference room of the library.

Online sign-ups are highly encouraged, but walk-in appointments are also welcome.

The HCC will also host a walk-in flu vaccination clinic for students on Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the lobby of Franz Center.

Most health insurance plans are accepted, including Pacific Source. Kaiser Permanente is accepted only for flu vaccinations at the Sept. 30 clinic. Those participating must bring a printed-out copy of the front and back of their health insurance card, according to the email.

Oregon — in partnership with California, Hawaii and Washington – is a member of the West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA).

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, WCHA members jointly announced recommendations for influenza, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccines. The alliance said immunization is “safe and effective” and broadly endorsed access to COVID-19 vaccines “for anyone who chooses protection.”

Miko Hoy, the associate director of primary care at the HCC, encourages students, staff and faculty to make informed decisions about their health.

“Everybody's choice about getting their COVID vaccine is a personal choice,” Hoy said. “We're seeing more and more COVID in the health center, so it's definitely out there in our community.”

With flu season approaching, Hoy says the severity of illness can be “hit or miss” and recommends students take care and get vaccinated.

“Some seasons it's really bad and students are really sick,” Hoy said. “We definitely recommend getting vaccinated for the flu.”
