As the streets are covered with snow and ice, the University of Portland campus will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 16 and on-campus classes will not be held. This announcement came Monday afternoon in an email from Vice President of Financial Affairs, Eric Barger.

Freezing rain is projected to occur midday Tuesday, which is what led to the decision to close campus.

“We regret this weather-related disruption on the first day of the semester,” Barger said in an email. “We also understand that some students’ travel plans have been disrupted and that their return to campus has been delayed.”

Students are asked to check their Moodle pages to keep up to date on how their professors plan to move forward with their respective classes.

The University will continue to provide updates as the situation progresses.
