During the Pilot’s game against the Duquesne Dukes last Friday Sept. 12th, the goalkeepers held the game at a 0-0 for much of the first half.

In the 42nd minute of the game, UP senior midfielder Michael Escobar took a corner kick that flew towards the top of the box. The ball bounced and junior defender, Hugo Rhoads, hammered the half-volley into the net for the first goal of the game. This was Rhoads’ first goal of the season and landed him in the 3rd spot of ESPN’s Top 10 plays for the day.

Duquesne’s Dorian Kouame sent a corner to his teammate Kadeem Pantophlet who headed the ball into the Pilots’ net to tie the game at 1-1 in the 76th minute of the game. The game went into two ten minute overtime periods, but neither team found opportunities to score during the overtime periods. The non-conference game ended in a 1-1 tie.
