Men’s basketball freshman guard Joel Foxwell was one of five players named an Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Feb. 10.
Foxwell earns this honor following a stellar performance on Feb. 4, leading the Pilots to a shocking 87-80 victory over then No. 6 Gonzaga for the first time since 2014. He scored a season high of 27 points on efficient 11-18 shooting, adding eight assists and a steal.
As their first win over a top-10-ranked opponent in school history, the game received national attention.
The conference honored Foxwell with his first West Coast Conference (WCC) Player of the Week mention on Feb. 9, and he also received his conference-best sixth freshman of the week award. He leads the WCC in assists and ranks No. 4 overall and No. 1 among freshmen nationwide in the metric.
In his debut collegiate season, Foxwell currently averages 15.3 points, 6.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 35.9 minutes a game.
