The University of Portland has partnered with KOIN-TV and KRCW-TV to designate the local CBS and CW affiliates as the exclusive broadcasting networks for all of UP’s home sporting events, according to a Friday, Oct. 22 press release.

The three-year agreement is effective immediately, and will begin with the Women’s soccer game against Santa Clara University on Saturday, Oct. 23. UP’s video department, Portland Sports Network, will be in charge of all production elements for the broadcasts.

“We are thrilled to work with such an engaging television partner in the local market,” said Scott Leykam, Portland's Vice President for Athletics. “KOIN/KRCW recognizes the value of local sports to the community and we are proud to showcase our student-athletes and programs to a wider audience.”

UP has partnered with KRCW-TV in the past, including two soccer matches and one volleyball game in the last month. However, the Portland vs. Santa Clara soccer match will be the first Portland Pilots broadcast on KOIN-TV.

The broadcasting team for all Pilots sports events will include broadcasters Ann Schatz, Bryan Sleik, Angela Harrison, Jennifer Mountain, and Korey Kier, the release said.

“The University of Portland has a long history of athletic success and developing young student-athletes. We're excited to be able to highlight the next generation of women and men on KOIN TV (CBS) and KRCW (Portland's CW) to our local viewers,” said Tom Keeler, Vice President, General Manager KOIN/KRCW.
