The wait is over UP sports fans. Football season is back! Even without a team on campus, there is no reason why the Pilot community should be deprived of some good ‘ole college and NFL football! But finding a place to kick back with friends to watch a game can be hard if you are under 21. Here are five minor-approved, sports-friendly restaurants close to campus that will give you that fix of football that you so desperately desire.

  1. Buffalo Wild Wings
  •      Address #1: 327 SW Morrison St., Portland, OR 97204 (downtown Portland)
  •      Address #2: 1200 NE Broadway St., #20, Portland, OR 97232 (Lloyd Center Mall)

It’s hard watching a good game of football without a plate of hot, savory wings. Fortunately, at BWW you won’t have to worry about that! Two chains of the world-famous Buffalo Wild Wings are a 15-minute drive from campus. With over 16 varieties of sauces and five options of seasoning, “B-Dubs” is the spot for personalizing your game day wings. Don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself a “wings type of person.” Buffalo Wild Wings doesn’t discriminate. They offer other meal options like tasty burgers, sandwiches and salads that will make your game day experience just as enjoyable.

  1. The Twilight Room

Address: 5242 N. Lombard St., Portland, OR 97203

The “T-Room” has been a hot spot for UP students for years. Just as famous for their tots as they are for "Two Dollar Tuesdays," this restaurant and bar has been a staple in the North Portland community for over 50 years. Feel free to walk into the restaurant anytime before 9 p.m. if you are under 21. With 11 TVs, it’s pretty hard to miss up-to-date football coverage from across the nation. Wait, did I forget to mention that breakfast is served ALL DAY on Sundays for NFL Football?

  1. On Deck Sports Bar & Grill
  •      Address #1: 910 NW 14th Ave, Portland, OR 97209 (Pearl District)
  •      Address #2: 225 SW Broadway #100, Portland, OR 97205 (downtown Portland)

Feel free to roll into “Portland’s premier sports bar” with your friends before 10 p.m. at the downtown Portland location, or by 9 p.m. at the Pearl District site (that is if you’re under 21 of course). Both spots have at least 25 high-definition TVs so it is nearly impossible to miss any of the college football action going on across the nation. The downtown location has the slight edge though. Free Wi-Fi, a state-of-the art TV system and an 110-inch projector screen to boot? Sounds like a pretty good deal.

  1. Marathon Tavern
  •      1735 W. Burnside, Portland, OR 97209

The Marathon Tavern is a 20 minute drive from campus, but you will not be disappointed by its sports atmosphere. The restaurant has been one of the top rated family-friendly sports bars in Portland since the 1990s. With over 20 HDTVs and a 92 inch HDTV, you are guaranteed to find the game of your liking. They have TV packages for nearly every professional sport. And to top it all off, the food is cheap. Customers can order two eggs, two strips of bacon and two slices of toast for just $2. Can you say college-friendly?

  1. Darcy’s Restaurant & Bar
  •      Address: 4804 North Lombard St., Portland, OR 97203

Darcy’s is located on Lombard Street and is less than a 15 minute walk from campus. If you’re feeling lazy, just hop in a car and get there in under 5 minutes! This is a great spot to catch a morning or afternoon football game close to campus. They serve breakfast ALL DAY. Eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. The whole shebang. We recommend ordering “The Cure." Plus, you get the full game experience with their jumbo projection TV.
