UP is nearing the end of another semester. While this means saying goodbye to assignments and extracurriculars, it also entails a bittersweet close to the fall sports that have motivated campus throughout this stressful term. To celebrate the term’s grand finale, reporters Rieve Randall, Kaeden Souki and Audrey Day have evaluated the performance of each fall sport.
Men’s basketball starts season 3-0
After finishing No. 8 last season in the West Coast Conference (WCC), with a 12-20 overall record, men’s basketball was selected to finish last in the conference by the WCC Coaches Preseason poll on Oct. 23.
Women’s basketball looks ahead to season with new starting team
The WCC Preseason poll projects women’s basketball to finish No. 4 in the West Coast Conference (WCC) behind Gonzaga, Washington State and last year’s conference tournament champion, Oregon State.
Volleyball begins season with historic 6-1 home start
Volleyball has started this season with a 6-1 home record and 3-0 in West Coast Conference (WCC) play for the first time in program history, before falling to San Diego on Oct. 9. They are currently 5-3 in WCC play, which is their best conference start since 2017.
