Today's senior wisdom comes from the goofy Eleina Santos who imparts some very real wisdom about coffee consumption and why your friends at UP will become your family.

Name: Eleina Santos Hometown: Tinian/Saipan, Northern Marianas Islands Major: Biology

What is your UP claim to fame? I honestly act like a kid. The homies know I’m always goofing around. I also regularly listen to Disney, and look forward to my PB&J’s and chocolate milk everyday. Most people know that I’m a “bro,” too. I can put a nice spiral on the football, but man, you should see me try to put on eyeliner.

When I was a freshman…. I had no idea what I was doing. It was total chaos, but it was a blast. I also lived in Shipstad Hall, which is the best dorm on campus.

Best piece of advice you received from someone during your time here? “If you want to fly, you have to give up the things that weigh you down.”

What are three pieces of wisdom you learned during your time at UPortland that you want to impart to those coming next?

  1. When you’re starting your day, remember that attitude is everything. And also how much coffee you’ve had to drink.
  2. Your best friends are your family here at UP. You’ll grow together, get into unbelievable shenanigans and have the greatest time of your lives. They will always be there for you, and when you’re down, remember that. Someone cares about you and wants to know how you’re doing.
  3. Mimosas are an excellent source of vitamin C.
The Commons or The Cove? The Cove for packaged Lucky Charms, or a grilled cheese with bacon and avocado.

Best advice for experiencing Portland? I’d like to recommend the “In Other Words” bookstore, which is the place of inspiration for the “Women and Women First” bookstore of Portlandia. Toni and Candace are my heroes.

The infamous… what’s next? I’m moving to Guam and opening up a coconut water stand.

Any regrets? I still can’t believe that it took me three and a half years to eat at Javier’s on Lombard. It makes me wonder where I’ve been this whole time.
