Women’s soccer secured a 3-0 win against the visiting Pacific Tigers last Friday night, and a 2-1 win over Saint Mary’s on Sunday.

The Pilots controlled possession from the beginning of Friday’s opening WCC game.

Sophomore Danica Evans netted the first goal of the game in the 18th minute off of a pass from junior Noelle La Prevotte. Evans scored again in the 59th minute, earning her team the leading sixth goal of the season.

The 2-0 score reflected the Pilots’ continued dominance of the game. In the 71st minute, sophomore Allison Wetherington put the game away with a goal off of a rebound shot from sophomore Parkes Kendrick.

The Pilots finished their first WCC game with a 3-0 shutout against the Tigers.

The team continued their winning streak on Sunday against the Saint Mary’s Gaels.

The Gaels held control in the first half, leading the Pilots into halftime 1-0 off of a goal by Crystal Shaffie in the 39th minute.

The Pilots found their momentum right out of the locker room during the game’s second half, with junior Noelle La Prevotte leveling the score during the 52nd second minute off of a pass from sophomore Ellie Boon. The 1-1 tie held until the 76th minute when Evans scored her seventh goal of the season.

Evans was inside the box with her back towards the goal when junior Haylee DeGrood sent in a pass. Evans sent in a powerhouse shot that hit the back right corner of the goal.

In the 78th minute of the game, the Gaels were given an opportunity to tie up the score when they were awarded penalty shot after a foul was called in the box.

Gaels sophomore Samantha Dion took the penalty kick and hit the back of the net, but the referee ruled that the players had entered into the box, and the goal was discounted.

Junior Anne Whipple retook the penalty kick, shooting the ball wide and maintaining the Pilots’ 2-1 lead. The Pilots shut down all remaining shot attempts from the Gaels, and freshman goalkeeper Taylor Luty ended the game with three saves.

The Pilots head to Utah on Thursday to play the BYU Cougars.
