Who knew turkey, marmalade, pear, brie and mint could taste so scrumptious together … grilled.
That's exactly what you'll find between two slices of homemade bread in the Parisian sandwich at Posies Café on Denver Avenue. You can make your afternoon fully French with a café au lait at one of the sidewalk tables or a comfy couch inside.
The furnishings at Posies are delightfully mismatched, different local artists display work on the walls and in the display case almond croissants and vegan pumpkin bread entice patrons of all ages. Posies particularly caters to a young crowd with almost daily events for kids, but you will also find plenty of light-hearted lunch-daters and students with laptops and papers galore. Though the espresso machine can make a racket, it's not enough to distract from the enjoyment of freshly baked goods and well-brewed coffee at this neighborhood café.
Better still, it's located close to campus and it's an official "Supportland" local business. Supportland is a free rewards card that gives you points for shopping at almost 100 local businesses in Portland. Participating companies include everything from Skeleton Tattoo to Inner Elements Yoga to The Naked Sheep Knit Shop, and with the points from your visits you can get rewards.
So, with enough chai tea lattes at the friendly Posies Café you could find yourself wearing a free Posies T-shirt as you sip away a Portland afternoon on Denver Avenue.
