The Beacon is a student-run, student-edited weekly newspaper at the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. The views expressed in The Beacon do not necessarily reflect those of the UP administration.
The print edition of The Beacon is published every Thursday during the academic year except for fall, winter and spring breaks, finals week and the week prior to finals week.
Staff members are generally hired during spring semester for positions for the following academic year, although openings occur at various points during the year. Positions for the next academic year are publicized in The Beacon each January, with applications due approximately two weeks later.
