Applications are now available in the ASUP office for next year's ASUP Executive Board. ASUP is responsible for representing the student body and coordinating extra curricular activities.

The deadline for turning in applications is Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. The positions ?available are president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and Campus Program Board director.

Senior Kyle Bunch, current ASUP president, strongly advocates becoming a member of student government.

"This year has definitely been busy, but the leadership experience you gain is invaluable," Bunch said. "The opportunity to represent students to the administration and community is really beneficial."

All positions require a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students running for CPB director, treasurer or secretary must have completed one semester at UP, while president and vice president are required to have completed three semesters. All candidates must be full-time undergraduates.

To be vice president, candidates must have spent one semester in the student Senate. The vice president acts as president of the ASUP senate, whose members were elected earlier in the school year.

The treasurer has to have completed a 200 level accounting class to qualify.

Campaigning will span through Feb. 9. The election takes place online from Feb. 24 and 25.

Candidates are only allowed to spend $125 on their campaigns. No door-to-door solicitation is allowed.

The Student Activities Director must approve all signs posted, and within the residence halls, the Hall Director must approve them.

"There are definitely skills that you will be able to use in the future that you learn from being a part of ASUP," CPB director Tarra McCurdy said. "It's also a great way to find out the inside scoop of what's happening on campus."
