Within the ASUP Budget there is the Capital Improvement Fund (CIF) which is meant to make a positive, physical change on campus.

Plasma televisions in Howard Hall and new couches and sofas in the Pilot House are the products of CIF. According to ASUP President David Gregg, "The amount the University gives us every year in the Capital Improvement Fund is used to make a tangible improvement on campus."

Senators are to get as many ideas from their constituents until a list of ten is finalized. Senators cut the list down to five and the Executive Board chooses the improvement after the administration approves it as feasible. The goal is to maximize the potential impact on the students with this fund.

CIF ideas will begin later in the year, but some students already what they would like to see the fund spent on.

"I would personally like to see more art in the buildings," said Heidi Busath, junior English major.

"I would get new chairs in the Buckley Center," said Stacey Singh, sophomore psychology and biology major. "They're really uncomfortable. I'd like to see small improvements and repairs like that."

Others point to UP's prehistoric features.

"Find more money and build a new school gym," senior Isaac Chol, political science major said. "Howard Hall is a dinosaur."
