After graduation, Angela Hudson, a senior accounting major and the current director of finance for ASUP, will be attending Villanova University in Pennsylvania to earn a master’s degree in accounting and data analytics. Her degree will be fully paid for by KPMG, an audit, tax and advisory service company. After completing her master’s, she will be working full-time for KPMG in San Francisco.

Hudson is one of 52 people chosen for KPMG’s first ever Master of Accounting with Data and Analytics program. Hudson interned with KPMG last summer, and heard about the program through her internship.

“It’s really cool because it’s the first time a public accounting firm has ever been offering this program,” Hudson said. “Like, they’re saying, go get your master's degree and specialize in this one area. It’s very innovative in that field.”

Hudson could choose from 14 different cities where KPMG have offices, but chose San Francisco because she wanted to stay on the West Coast.

“I thought I would be working for KPMG in Portland, so it’s exciting and scary,” Hudson said. “Now it’s totally different, like oh, go get your masters and move to an entirely different city that I’ve never been to before.”

Hudson says she feels prepared for her future degree and career because of her accounting classes and her work with ASUP.

“Time management-wise and working on a team with other people, that’s what business is now,” she said. “That’s helped prepare me for business, especially during the tough times like finals — balancing what you need to get done and prioritizing everything.”
