Today's senior wisdom features elementary education superstar Katy Jo Novinger who imparts some important wisdom about following your heart...towards the pizza.

Name: Katy Jo Novinger Hometown: Portland, OR Major: Elementary Education

What is your UP claim to fame? Getting an extreme case of the giggles during Corrado’s Hall Mass. Every week. (Sorry Father Gary!)

When I was a freshman…. I got lost walking to East Quad… from West Quad.

Best piece of advice you received from someone during your time here? Always follow your heart. That piece of advice ended in me ordering pizza instead of salad at the Commons.

What are three pieces of wisdom you learned during your time at UPortland that you want to impart to those coming next?

  1. Take the time to do random things with your friends. You will look back at those memories and smile.
  1. Reach out to people. You never know who just might end up being your best friend.
  2. Cove fries > Commons fries. Without a doubt.
The Commons or The Cove? Usually the The Commons. Except for on visitation days because I am scared of The Commons on visitation days.

Best advice for experiencing Portland? Buy a rain jacket and a MAX pass. Go on adventures.

The infamous… what’s next? I will be teaching 3rd grade at Kelly Creek Elementary School.

Any regrets? That I didn’t fight harder to get the quesadillas back at The Anchor. Sorry guys
