Our next wisdom comes courtesy of OTM major Matt Palm, an avid gravy enthusiast. Matt imparts some brilliant wisdom about how to pick up the ladies and how no one really likes kale.

What is your UP claim to fame? One day I decided to start a blog about where I am when I drink coffee. Now, six months later, I have nearly 15 followers! It’s really stupid. Find me at mattdrinkscoffee.wordpress.com!!

When I was a freshman…. I couldn’t figure out why people were so obsessed with the “Tea Room.” Two dollars for tea isn’t even a good deal. Tea is gross.

Best piece of advice you received from someone during your time here? “You’re really smart and creative and handsome Matt, you should join E-scholars!!!” -Kevin Bastien

What are three pieces of wisdom you learned during your time at UPortland that you want to impart to those coming next?     1. There is nothing wrong with having a beer or three with brunch. 2. If you don’t mind families staring at you, Applebee’s late night happy hour makes the best Jaeger Bombs. 3. Nobody actually likes kale, so no need to lie about it.

The Commons or The Cove? Freshman Matt picked up so many girls by sharing baskets of Cove fries and listening to their feelings. Plus, The Cove has better coffee than The Commons.

Best advice for experiencing Portland? Eat a lot of things covered in gravy, try all the beer and shut up about kale.

The infamous… what’s next? Work in Portland for a couple more years, and then build myself a cabin in Montana where nobody will bother me and I can eat gravy for every meal.

Any regrets? Sometimes I wish I had eaten more biscuits and gravy.
