The middle of the semester is exhausting, so if and when you find yourself wanting to take a break from it all, here are the best places to do it:

St. Mary’s Lounge (4.0/5)

A modern classic. The lounge’s famous black, squishy couches have been witness to more scattered, stressed-out bodies in varying levels of consciousness than every Quentin Tarantino movie combined. Just avoid being in there while an event is going on, as it’s a mood killer - and beware of the smell.

Clark Library (3.5/5)

There’s variety here: The fireplace on the quiet floor might make one of the most eerily-quiet places on campus tempting for some, the big red chairs on the first floor are comfortable and the second floor has booths. However, sometimes The Library is kept a few degrees colder than other buildings, and during midterms it’s so crowded that it’s hard to even find somewhere to sit.

Pilot House (2.5/5)

The Cove is only a few feet away from the couches, and with the recent addition of a printer, this may be the perfect place for multitaskers. It’s often very loud though, in addition to being very public - you really have to want to commit to this nap.

In class (.5/5)

We’ve all been there, willing our eyes to stay open for just a few more minutes, pens scrawling out nearly illegible notes that will be regretted later. Whether or not you’ve given into the urge to fall asleep in class, you know that it’s embarrassing, uncomfortable and all-around bad. Special recognition goes out to those in three-hour classes.
