In an election that clearly favored candidates with ASUP experience, juniors Colin Dorwart and Katie Scally clenched the reins of the ASUP presidency and vice-presidency with an overwhelming majority.
Junior Hillary Burrelle will join Scally and Dorwart as secretary, along with junior Ben Thompson as treasurer and sophomore Hillary White as Campus Program Board director.
Dorwart and Scally beat opponents Suzann Corrado and Emily Rizzo, both juniors, with 74.05 percent of the 1,156 votes, which represents a 38.1 percent voter turnout.
"I am excited to lead next year and I am excited to represent the student body," Dorwart said after hearing of his win. "I really want to promote ASUP and promote student involvement."
Dorwart and Scally ran on a platform of increased student involvement and transparency.
"Right away we want to set up meetings with The Beacon and start a KDUP show," Scally said. "We want to open up the lines of communication and get proposals ready."
Burrelle won the position of secretary with 58.13 percent of the vote over junior Emma Isakson.
Burrelle wants to increase student involvement by getting more students on ASUP committees. She also wants to better communicate what happens during the meetings, make a more readable and accessible events calendar and use the Internet to improve ASUP communication with UP constituents.
The position of treasurer went to junior Ben Thompson. He defeated junior Brendan Garlinghouse with 53.1 percent of the vote.
White ran unopposed for the position of CPB director on a platform of keeping the programming on campus similar to what it is now, with minor improvements.
"I take office before the end of this year, and I am going to jump in with what's already working to get the ball rolling," White said. "But I want to reinstate River Run and Pilotpalooza."
The ASUP Executive Board officially takes office on April 12 at the last Senate meeting of the school year.
