Bell tower disrupts classes

The University of Portland is committed to learning. The University also wanted a central symbol on campus to promote some type of unity (in the form of the new bell tower), but there is a conflict in learning when the bell tower rings every 15 minutes!

Most of my classes are two to three hours long and it is very disruptive when the bell goes off every 15 minutes during class or a test.

Is it really necessary to hear the bell eight to 12 times while I'm in class trying to concentrate?

What's wrong with every hour? The point of a clock that rings is to tell you the hour of the day, not the minute. The bell tower disrupts the teachers, the students, and is a nuisance when it bongs its tune every 15 minutes. What can be done to get the bell to ring once an hour instead of four times an hour?

Anyone feel the same way?
