The men’s and women’s basketball teams each hosted a doubleheader in Chiles this week. The women picked up a win and a loss and the men’s team had two losses. The men’s and women’s tennis teams competed in Seattle, and track and field competed in the Portland Indoor Three at home.

Women’s Basketball

This week was a rollercoaster for the women’s team as they played the top and bottom of the WCC league.

They took on BYU at home on Feb. 3. They pulled off an upset, beating the #1 in the league 75-64. This was the first home win against BYU since the 1997-98 season. Forward Alex Fowler had 23 points in the game.

The women’s team then played Loyola Marymount on Feb. 5 in the second doubleheader of the week. LMU came out strong in the second half and outrebounded the Pilots 32-22. The Pilots ultimately fell 59-61. Fowler again led in team points with 21.

The Pilots came back from the loss on the 5th against LMU, winning 64-49. Guard Maisie Burnham led the Pilots in points, scoring 15.

The Pilots take on Saint Mary’s University at home on Feb. 10.

Men’s Basketball

The men’s team took on Saint Mary’s University on Feb. 3 in the first doubleheader game. They fought hard but ultimately fell 54-75. Guard/forward Tyler Robertson scored 15 points for the Pilots.

In the second doubleheader game, the Pilots took on the San Francisco Dons on Feb. 5. The Pilots led for the first period but in the end, the Dons came up with the win, 71-74. Guard Chris Austin led in points for the Pilots with 25.

The Pilots traveled to San Francisco on Feb. 8 to play the Dons again, this time, however, they pulled off the win 69-68. Forward Kristian Sjolund led the scoring for the Pilots with 23 points.

The men’s team returns home to play Loyola Marymount University on Feb. 12.

Women’s Tennis

The women’s tennis team picked up their first loss of the spring against the University of Washington on Feb. 4. The Huskies won all six singles matches in straight sets to remain undefeated at 6-0 for the season. Freshman Sally Pethybridge and Sophomore Rimona Rouf took home the only win for the Pilots in the doubles match.

The next tennis match will be against Eastern Washington University and the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR on Feb. 12 and 13.

Men’s Tennis

The men’s tennis team traveled to Seattle, WA on Feb. 5 to take on San Diego University. They lost 3-4. Portland's No. 2 doubles team picked up a win for the Pilots. The doubles team included freshman Julien Penzlin and sophomore Nikolas Tvedt.

The men’s team heads back to Seattle to take on USC on Feb. 15.

Track and Field

The Pilots picked up four individual wins at the Portland Indoor Three in Chiles Center on Feb. 5. Junior Konnor Hathaway and junior Grace Oswin won first place in the men's 600m and women's 600m respectively. Redshirt senior Chris Morzenti and junior Ellie Erikson each claimed wins in the 800m men's and women's runs.
