This week in Pilots athletics, the men’s tennis team competed in the Gonzaga Invitational and the Southern Intercollegiates, the men’s soccer team earned a win and a tie, the women’s soccer team won on the road, the cross country teams competed in the WCC Championships and the women’s rowing team hosted the Portland Fall Classic.

The crinkle of the wax paper as I sat in the patient chair. 9 a.m. on a Friday morning, the earliest the urgent care would open. June 19, 2020. My mother sat across the room in a chair, sitting on her phone and tapping her foot. She was stressed, I could tell. It was like she knew something was wrong before the nurse even walked in. A mother’s intuition, maybe.

UP is planning an in-person Spring 2022 commencement, Acting President and Provost Herbert Medina announced at the academic senate meeting on Oct. 19. It would be the first in-person commencement since 2019, with the last two being held virtually because of COVID-19.

The remnants of ancient volcanoes that once protruded from the surface of the ocean, the Marshall Islands resemble a breathtaking collection of tiny specs in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. While they are seemingly pristine islands well-known for their world class wreck scuba diving, they are the victims of two massive threats – rising seas due to climate change and the long-lasting effects of US nuclear testing.

Hollywood is no stranger to jumping on industry trends to make a quick buck with minimal effort. This used to mean churning out western movies like they were hotcakes, or later, cheesy early-2000s rom-coms. These days, however, studios have turned to movies that take place in an interconnected universe. Marvel Studios has been the industry leader in this department for the last decade.
