Tipoff of the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the University of Portland women’s basketball team has officially been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. PST on Friday, March 22. The faceoff between the No. 13 seeded Pilots and the No. 4 seeded Kansas State Wildcats is set to take place in Manhattan, Kansas.

StockUP was a 100% free resource for all UP students, faculty and staff where produce, toiletries and other household essentials were available for those who needed them. During my first year (fall 2021), students, faculty and staff would gather at the old social work house to grab any necessities. Since then, the StockUP pop-ups have moved to different locations and have slowly been declining. The university’s StockUP pop-up food pantry has been on hiatus since fall 2023. This past school year, there have been no pop-up food pantries on campus due to a restructuring of the program.

My Instagram feed over the past few months has revealed a probably unhealthy anxiety about my career. There was a point in mid-January where most of my suggested posts — typically graphics of eerily faceless, spiffy cartoon men clad in business casual gesturing to career advice written in boldface — were about scoring internships and winning jobs.

For as long as I can remember, people have always asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I thought I would need a college degree for every answer I supplied. I am still learning that more often than not, most jobs don’t need a college degree.

As the clock hit zero, the Pilot House erupted in cheers and applause: The women’s basketball team has won the 2024 West Coast Conference (WCC) Women's Basketball Championship. In a score of 66 to 67, the women’s team beat Gonzaga University and advanced to the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Tournament.

Kieurstyn Camacho, president and co-founder of CHamoru Club, knew she wanted to make a cultural night when she initially began the process of reviving the club at UP. However, due to financial constraints that the club faced, it was uncertain if an event like this would be possible.
