StockUP, the pop-up food pantry that aided members of the UP community that were facing food insecurity, is on pause while the Diversity & Inclusion Programs (DIP) work towards making the program more organized. The summer of 2023 was a great season for uncomfortable films to watch with your Japanese father. I was unsure of how he’d react to “Oppenheimer,” considering we’d only gotten back from Hiroshima the month before. I even tried watching less controversial movies with him, but he slept through Itami’s “The Funeral” and played on his iPad while I watched “Hausu.”

Mom’s minivan — many of us rode in it at some point growing up. Whether it was your own family’s minivan or that of a school friend, at some point everyone has sat in a minivan on their way to some sort of practice, rehearsal, training, etc. For those lucky few that got to take this vehicle to college, we ended up with probably the best college car in existence.

My mom sends me about twenty text messages every day. Most of them are pictures of our French bulldog, Stewart, who has now become her certified best friend while I'm away at college. Almost every morning, I can rely on getting a text from her, wishing me a great day with a bitmoji she thinks looks like her.

Although relatively young, Patrick McHale’s mini-series “Over the Garden Wall” has proven worthy to join the season’s essential rituals. Displaying all the vestments of harvest, the show follows two boys who journey through a forest to find their way home. Far from your run-of-the-mill cartoon, it is filled to the brim with foot-tapping tunes, memorable characters and genuinely emotional moments. Fans of the show Editor-in-Chief Kate Cuadrado and Living Section Editor Noah Carandanis offer a guide for anyone willing to embark on the journey into The Unknown.
