University of Portland’s college radio station, KDUP, broadcasts music and radio shows on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students can tune into KDUP through their website, where over 100 student DJ’s play all kinds of music, from indie rock to hip-hop, or host talk shows covering a variety of topics.

KDUP hosts all of their radio shows in “The Shack,” a small cabin behind St. Mary’s. Some may have heard of The Shack’s spooky basement. The Beacon took a tour of The Shack, and KDUP program director Dagan Kay showed us what goes on behind the scenes.
