Another week and another Pilot in the Spotlight is upon us.

This week’s spotlight shines on redshirt senior Lauren LaRocco, who earned WCC Runner of the Week honors for her performance in the Nuttycombe Invite.

“It’s really cool to be named WCC Runner of the Week,” LaRocco said. “The conference has done a really great job this year of highlighting all the hard work across the different schools and programs, and I’m honored to be recognized.”

LaRocco earned these honors for her performance in the Nuttycombe Invite this past weekend in Madison, Wisconsin. LaRocco finished 16th overall in her first cross country race since 2016, crossing the finish line in the 6k with a time of 20:04.4.

Her performance helped the 29th ranked Pilots finished 12th overall, beating several teams ranked ahead of them including No. 13 Penn. State, No. 25 Providence and No. 27 Georgetown.

LaRocco is excited about her team’s performance so far this year and looks forward to seeing how the team progresses this season.

“So far I’m really happy with where the team is at,” LaRocco said. “We have a lot of talent that I think will show in the later races. Everyone is already racing well, but with more training and experience, I think we can have our best team yet by November.”

The Pilots will run again on Oct. 13 at the Warner Pacific Cross Country Classic in Portland.
