The best times to go to Beauchamp (if you want to beat the crowd)

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, you might feel motivated to get back into working out after that second helping of mashed potatoes and that third slice of pie. The Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center offers fitness classes, a fully-stocked weight room with assistants, a cardio center with over 50 machines and so much more to whip you back into your prime health and fitness levels. 

Beauchamp is free of charge for all students, faculty, staff and UP Holy Cross members. With over 4,000 students at the University of Portland, it can be difficult to know when is the best time to hit the gym and beat the crowd. 

The Weight Room

The weight room is full of Ivanko weights, UCS Racks and LifeFitness machines to make your workout experience the best. The gym also provides the following: Medicine and smash balls, kettlebells, back rollers, TRX bands, plyo boxes, yoga mats and more. Student lifting assistants are always found in the weight room to make sure everyone is exercising safely. There are also weight room orientations at the start of each semester, which will be posted online or in the gym. 

Cardio Loft

The second floor cardio center is stocked with over 40 rowing, stair climbing, elliptical, treadmill and bicycle machines. 

Climbing and Bouldering Center

This 40-foot vertical climbing wall and tower is free of charge for students. Students must have a UP recreational services certification before climbing, which can be achieved through attending orientations. There are orientations and classes available for bouldering and climbing the vertical tower throughout the semester. Beauchamp also requires students to use climbing shoes, provided free of charge by the gym.
