Active Minds, Campus Program Board and 15 other on-campus organizations are co-sponsoring “Fresh Check Day” on Friday. This event will aim to promote mental health and suicide awareness, and is part of a national program that has been held at over 60 colleges.

A variety of on-campus organizations will host activities at the mental health fair, including the Beauchamp Wellness and Recreation Center, Campus Ministry and Residence Life.

“The purpose of including so many organizations is that there’s buy-in for so many different populations on campus. We’re trying to include everyone,” Mikki Spangler, co-president of Active Minds, said.

In addition to providing educational information, the groups at the fair will also host activities, such as exercise, games and meditation. There will also be free churros, snow cones and raffle prizes.

“(We’re) making it more accessible by making it kind of exciting and fun,” Molly Thomas, secretary of Active Minds, said. “Everyone should go. And not just for the free churros.”
