Update: On Jan. 28, Sharon Jones posted the following on The Beacon's Facebook page in response to this story: "I'm not going anywhere. SU decided to go in a different direction and I wish them the best. Thanks for all the good thoughts. Go Pilots!"

The Dean of the engineering school at the University of Portland is a finalist for provost at Seattle University.

The Seattle Spectator, the student newspaper at Seattle U, first reported that Dean of the Shiley School of Engineering Sharon Jones is one of two candidates for the position of the provost at Seattle University.

The Beacon has confirmed that report with UP Provost Tom Greene.

The Seattle Spectator reported that an announcement of the new provost will be made toward the end of February. Jones was hired at UP in 2011.
