A visiting women's basketball player fell during the Pilots West Coast Conference game against Pepperdine in the Chiles Center on Thursday night and left campus in an ambulance.

Fourteen seconds before halftime, Pepperdine's Barbara Sitanggan fell flat on her back from about four-feet in the air while fighting to get a rebound.

Both UP and Pepperdine athletic trainers rushed to her side and she lay on the court below the hoop for over 15 minutes. Just before the Portland Fire department arrived, both teams were sent to the locker rooms for an early halftime.

According to the Waves' website, Sitanggan, native to Fullerton, Calif. is majoring in sports medicine and hopes to become a physical therapist.

Sitanggan, a freshman, was strapped to a stretcher with a neck brace on and taken out of the Chiles Center arena around 8:05pm. Both Waves and Pilot fans applauded.
