Students can often be seen awaiting a taco bowl in lines that seem to stretch for miles during prime meal times. The Commons is the largest on-campus source of food for students, but is definitely not the only one.

New meal options are being presented in the Pilot House this year, and despite rumors stating otherwise, The Anchor is still around for now.

The Pilot House launched its new healthy breakfast option last week: acai bowls. Starting next week, The Pilot House will also be offering hot cereals, according to Bon Appétit General Manager Kirk Mustain.

Inside The Pilot House, students can find Mack’s Market, a kind of organic convenience store that receives shipments of new products weekly which Mustain hopes will keep options for students healthy and diverse.

Across campus, The Anchor, situated on the first floor of Haggerty Hall across from Beauchamp, does not have any new food options, but it does look like it will be here to stay for the time being.

Because of its location, The Anchor serves as a small eatery where students can pick up grab-and-go items like granola bars, as well as options that would be useful as a pre- or post-workout snack. These include breakfast sandwiches and smoothies.

There are plans for an eatery in Lund Family Hall, but Mustain said no decisions have been made regarding what will be served there. There is a chance that the new eatery could replace The Anchor as a place to stop post-workout or on the way in to class and work, but these plans have not been finalized.

And if you find yourself in Franz Hall basement early enough, you just might be able to get a Franz bagel before they run out — yes, folks, they are still being served up every day of the week.
